I do not want residents to be caught out so please be aware that from 5th February, parking charges are increasing very significantly in our Horsham District Council run car parks.
I very much regret that the new administration has implemented these increases (for example of 60 per cent for Piries car park). Many have no choice but to use a car and local shops and businesses rely on visitors to the town. I appreciate Local Council funding is tight (indeed I recently raised this with the Chancellor) but HDC inherited very strong reserves. Increasing the car parking charges by this amount (and also increasing the unparished precept charge by 30 per cent) seems the wrong priorities at this time.
