Horsham Conservative Association is delighted to announce that it has selected Lorraine Nunes-Carvalho to fight the by-election to Mid Sussex District Council for the ward of Ardingly and Balcombe. The by-election has been caused by the sad and untimely passing of hugely popular Councillor, Andrew MacNaughton. Andrew had served as a Councillor for Ardingly and Balcombe for 34 years since 1987 and will be greatly missed.
Horsham Association Chairman, Adrian M Lee said;
We were determined to select a local candidate who knows the Ardingly and Balcombe patch and who can work with our other ward Councillor, Gary Marsh to continue Andrew's legacy on Mid Sussex District Council. Lorraine is an excellent candidate. She lives in Balcombe and knows the area extremely well.
Existing Ward Councillor Gary Marsh added;
I was delighted Lorraine was selected to fight this ward. I served alongside Andrew MacNaughton for 18 years and I know Lorraine will work hard for the ward for the benefit of local residents continuing Andrew's legacy. Now she is selected, I look forward to campaigning with her and getting out to see the people of Ardingly and Balcombe.
Speaking after her selection, Lorraine Nunes-Carvalho said;
I am thrilled to be standing in Ardingly and Balcombe. I have very big shoes to fill following on from Andrew but I know that with Gary we will be able to continue his good work and I will do my very best to represent the people right across the ward.
This by-election will take place on Thursday 8 July 2021.
