Our Annual Dinner back in May had to be cancelled due to Covid-19 restrictions. Our guest of honour was to have been the Rt. Hon. Baroness Morgan of Cotes PC, better known as Nicky Morgan.
The Rt. Hon. Baroness Morgan of Cotes was Secretary of State for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport from 24 July 2019 to 13 February 2020. She served as Education Secretary and Minister for Women and Equalities from July 2014 to July 2016. She served as an Assistant Whip in the coalition government until her appointment as Economic Secretary to the Treasury in October 2013. Nicky served as Financial Secretary to the Treasury and Minister for Women from April until July 2014. She was elected Conservative MP for Loughborough in 2010.
Because we were unable to meet her in person in May, Baroness Morgan has offered to meet us in a Zoom call especially for the Horsham Association on 29 October 2020. We can expect her to tell us about her experience at Education, at the Department for Culture, Media and Sport and what is like now she is in the House of Lords.
Members will also have opportunity to put their questions to her. Given the recent school closures due to Covid-19 and the BBC’s position on the Licence Fee for the over 75s, there may be much to ask about!
This event is free of charge.
Any member interested in participating should register their interest wth the office by email to [email protected] or by phone to 01403 242000.
