After many years the first Speed Indicator Device (SID) has been fitted in Coolham outside the village hall by which has been wholeheartedly welcomed by local residents. Shipley Parish Council have been developing their traffic management strategy over the last couple of years with a view to reducing speeds as motorists come into Coolham.
Councillor Payne explained they were currently in discussion with West Sussex County Council Highways team about potentially siting further SIDs on the East, North and Southbound entrances to the village. “We can already see from not only the behaviour of motorists slowing down as they come down the hill, but the downloaded data we then send to West Sussex police it is already making a significant difference, so we want to replicate that now in all directions.”
