Christian was educated at Collyer’s and graduated from London University before studying law. As a barrister, he practices family law including child protection.
Recognised as the “Peoples’ Champion” (Editorial, West Sussex County Times, March 2007) Christian has consistently fought hard for residents and has always put them before party politics. He strongly opposed any development north of Horsham in the Strategic Gap. He has worked with Cllr Peter Burgess and others to ensure that residents have the infrastructure in place that is needed such as the upgraded roundabouts at Rusper Road and the Warnham Road, and our new secondary school.
He strongly opposed the waste incinerator which unfortunately planning permission was granted on appeal against the decision of the local County Councillors who refused it.
Christian has served in the cabinet at Horsham District Council as cabinet member for Horsham Town bringing public realm improvements to our town centre. He was Chairman of Horsham District Council in 2016-17 which brought him into regular contact with many voluntary groups and organisations in our town and District. And as chairman of the Licensing Committee for seven years Christian took a zero-tolerance approach to failing public houses and landlords. Under his chairmanship he permanently revoked the premises licence from the notorious Horse & Groom in Horsham town centre.
