I have lived in Shipley Parish since 2005, in the same house near Brooks Green with my wife and two daughters. I’m a keen runner, and am often seen out along the lanes and footpaths of Shipley and Southwater.
I feel very protective of the community with the challenges it faces, whether pressed local services, traffic matters, fly tipping, and of course housing. As a community we need to be providing the right type and number of homes for local people, especially brownfield sites with smaller more affordable units, whilst at the same time safeguarding our countryside, ecology and local infrastructure from over development.
I joined Shipley Parish Council in 2021, to throw my weight behind addressing some of these challenges in the local villages. I feel as a Council we have made a lot of progress over the last eighteen months specifically on planning and traffic matters.
Professionally, after leaving university I found myself starting a career in property, for the most part in London but more recently the Middle East before becoming a freelance consultant, coach and mentor.
It's my experience of working with new homes developers over most of my career, that now affords me the insight and capability to be able support local efforts to make sure housing development in the ward is commensurate with the local neighbourhood plans and will try and help make that happen.
