Peter served in the Royal Navy for 32 years, flying Buccaneers to carriers, helicopters in the Antarctic, was the Seahawk display pilot and a VIP transport captain. Passengers included Margaret Thatcher and John Major. He then worked for airlines from Gatwick and was later employed as a training pilot and examiner at Farnborough.
The family moved to Horsham in 1992 and Peter became a Parish Councillor in 1996, serving four years as Chairman. He then became a District Councillor in 2011, Chairman of Council in 2018 and Cabinet Member for Horsham Town in 2019. Currently he is the Armed Forces Champion for Horsham District Council, a role to ensure local members of the military and veterans are looked after.
Peter’s local interests are medical and education provision, transport infrastructure and improving local facilities especially for young and older residents. He feels HDC needs to serve all aspects of our life, especially those the council do not directly control such as roads.
Peter wants to preserve the green spaces Horsham already has therefore, he strongly opposed any building North of the A264, but as this has now been agreed, is working to ensure it offers the best provision possible and any plans to increase the number of houses is opposed. He is also starting a campaign to get potholes repaired properly.
Peter is married with two sons and lives in Holbrook West.
