Rudgwick is a great place to live and I want to keep it that way. My wife and I have lived in Rudgwick for 20 years and in Horsham District since 1985. Having served as both a Parish Councillor, School Governor for Rudgwick Primary School, and being a member of the Rudgwick Preservation Society, I have a good insight to the best interests of Rudgwick, they will always my first priority. For the last four years I have had the privilege of representing Rudgwick on Horsham District Council. During that time I have opposed a number of speculative housing developments and an unnecessary Claypit. We need more houses but they must be the right type in the right place.
The Downs Link is a great asset to the Parish for walkers, cyclists, and riders. It helps not only to maintain fitness but is also good for our mental wellbeing. It also needs to be safe for its users and I fully support the campaign for a bridge over the crossing on the A281.
I spoke on behalf of Rudgwick in opposition to the planning application for a Claypit in Loxwood. Although in an adjoining Council area it would have been Rudgwick which would have been most affected. It is extremely important that we keep our country side unspoilt and that our green areas stay green for all to enjoy and for the good of the environment.
When I Chaired the Parish Council I set up a Traffic Calming Group and I still fully support the excellent work that they are doing throughout the Parish. Speeding traffic throughout our district is a problem and I welcome and support any initiative that sees this reduced.
